YoungArts Week Miami: Now Live Streamed

YoungArts, the core program of the National Federation for Advancement in the Arts (NFAA), will host the 30th Annual YoungArts Week in Miami. YoungArts recognizes and supports America’s most talented young artists in the visual, literary and performing arts. During YoungArts Week, Jan. 10-15, the nation’s top student artists will participate in a week-long event that includes workshops, master classes, exhibitions and performances. For the first time in YoungArts history, select performances will be live streamed online providing the public, teachers and art enthusiasts around the country a front row seat.

The YoungArts finalists represent the top 3 percent of 5,000 applicants. During YoungArts Week, these hard-working artists will be further evaluated for their final award level and the possibility of a financial award from $1,000 to $10,000. “Art is evolving, and that is seen through the fresh faces and minds that go through our program,” says Christina DePaul, NFAA president and CEO. “Our program is expanding its reach beyond our Miami home, and showcasing the newest generation of American artists with our new live streaming initiative.”

Guest artists and master teachers include Bill T. Jones, Branford Marsalis, Liv Ullmann, Kerry Washington and Barry Frydlender. NFAA will nominate up to 60 students following YoungArts Week for the U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts. The Council on Presidential Scholars will select 20 students as the 2011 U.S. Presidential Scholars in the Arts.
