The “Bold Adventures” of Tigertail

Take a walk on the wild side during Tigertail’s Bold Adventures annual fundraiser on Saturday, May 21, from 8 to 11 p.m. at the historic Miami-Dade County Auditorium. The event, described as a cabaret, will take over the Auditorium under the curatorial eye of Wendy Wischer, who has elicited fantastic artwork for the Not-So-Silent Silent Auction. Plus, Octavio Campos will guide the evening along as Stage Door  Johnny greets guests as they enter the cabaret through the theater’s back door.

Tigertail has a 30-year-plus history of achievement and has commissioned, presented and produced more than 500 astounding artists in the performing, literary and visual arts. The organization’s 31st season reflected South Florida’s diversity and multicultural identity in playful, bold, risk-taking and challenging ways. And while bringing the world to South Florida, Tigertail continues to foster South Florida artists, build youth projects, produce community residencies and commission new work. As you may already know, Tigertail also does important work behind the scenes, including community residencies, commissioning new works and administering Miami-Dade’s Artist Access grants.

The best thing about Bold Adventures, besides the fact you’ll be supporting one of South Florida’s most important arts organizations, is that guests are encouraged to conjure up (and maybe dress up) as a legendary performer such as Nureyev, Liberace, Marion Anderson, Arthur Rubinstein, Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, Pavarotti, Yma Sumac, José Greco, Tito Puente, Thomas Armour and more.

Tigertail’s event invitation says: “Top hats, tutus, tights and tambourines — mix it up. Come in costume, or not.” The party will include food and open bar. The free, secure auditorium parking lot features easy access and ample space.

Tickets are $125 for one person, $220 for two, $400 for four and are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. (Tigertail Productions is a non-profit organization.) Tickets may be purchased online at www.tigertail.org or by phoning 305.324.4337. Bold Adventures at 2901 W. Flagler St., Miami. Parking information and directions are also available on the website.
