Past Knight Arts Challenge Winners profiled in The Miami Herald

The Miami Herald today profiled several Knight Arts Challenge Miami winners – ahead of Monday’s deadline for the annual contest seeking the region’s best ideas for the arts.

Writer Howard Cohen visited the Everglades’ Artist in Residence program, which hosts artists who live and work onsite in a 1960s cottage at the Ernest Coe Visitor’s Center.

“Artists are both learning from and inspiring the scientists and seeing the park through each others’ eyes and this impacts so many things about our city,” Christy Gast, the program’s president, told the Herald.

The article also mentions the winner the Borscht Film Festival’s acceptance to show shorts at Sundance and at SXSW in Austin, Tx., the Miami Dade Public Library’s Young Adult Writer in Residence Program and Karen Peterson and Dancers.
