IS’ work will focus on four major areas over the next three years: Public Policy and Government Relations; Nonprofit Sector Programs and Practices; Communication; and Emerging Issues and Strategic Initiatives. The non profit sector’s presence on Capitol Hill will be strengthened through the use of more than 50 advocates, who will proactively shape the regulation of the nonprofit sector and mobilize support of broad policy issues. IS has developed a baseline and is able to measure organizations that have adopted codes of ethics. IS issues a report on social justice philanthropy and opportunities for increasing it. IS also provides information on barriers to and opportunities for increased use of general operating support.
