To help catalyze growth of the downtown cultural district by supporting a capital campaign to expand and improve the museum facility, create a new education center, and strengthen the museum's collections and library
The Fort Wayne Museum of Art, which exhibits and collects works of American artists, serves an audience of more than 90,000 annually. This grant will help improve the museum’s facilities and programs, in order to create a new cultural hub for the downtown area currently undergoing a renaissance.
Through the capital campaign, the museum plans to add 10,000 square feet of gallery space, a café, museum shop and WiFi-enabled lounge that will create a new downtown destination. A new Art Education Center and public art library, centered on K-12 learning, will more than double the number of local students participating in programs. The museum will also fill gaps in its permanent collection of American art, strengthening its identity as a premier regional American art museum.
