To create a forum where more than 170 groups concerned with the environment can exchange information and improve citizen engagement
growWNY will promote information exchange and community dialogue around reviving post-industrial Buffalo by creating a forum where groups concerned with the environment can exchange information and boost civic engagement. There are more than 170 groups concerned with Western New York’s environment, often working in isolation, with no effective way of knowing what each is doing. In order to improve community dialogue and “ultimately” help revive the region, growWNY will feature discussion groups, resource directories, event calendars, job and volunteer opportunities. In addition, the site will engage the public through tools and incentives to promote environmentally-friendly behavior. With the help of individuals and groups concerned with our regional environment as well as the general public, growWNY will be designed as a convenient and dynamic tool for rapid dissemination of information, active communication, networking and collective problem solving.
