To increase access to job search assistance and computer based job skill training outside of Library facilities, particularly for people who speak English as their secondary language

The Friends of the St. Paul Public Library was established in 1945 to increase funding and to present free cultural programming to the public. This grant will launch the Mobile Workplace Project to help Spanish, Hmong and Somali speakers who find it difficult to use library resources. A mobile service with 10 laptops will bring computer training to the underserved communities.

At nine or more partner locations, library staff will offer computer training and help with job searches. In addition, members of the cultural communities will ensure that training is delivered in several languages. With the Mobile Workplace Project, St. Paul Public Library expects a 50 to 100 percent increase in its computer classes.
