With this latest investment, Knight Foundation surpasses a significant philanthropic milestone: more than $1 billion in total grants paid since the Knight brothers created the foundation in 1950 to support journalism excellence and the communities where they ran newspapers.

As stewards of the Knight brothers’ legacy, Knight Foundation seeks opportunities to create transformative change, and to support ideas that enable the Knight brothers’ twin passions — journalism and communities — to live up to the highest potential.

“This milestone is a testament to the extraordinary vision and achievements of leaders and organizations working to serve the common good. Their ideas and their efforts hold the promise of transforming society into something better,” said Ibargüen.
