New Yorkers, never shy about speaking their mind, have a new outlet: a Web site that promises to directly connect residents and city government in order to put words into action.
The site, called Change by Us NYC, which went live on Thursday, is first soliciting ideas on how to make the city more environmentally sound. Users can expect to connect with city agencies, community groups and programs that work on sustainability issues.
City officials described the project as “a social network for grass-roots leaders.” They said their goal was to exploit the opportunities offered by social media to spur professionals, volunteers and city employees to share information about ways to improve conditions and team up for specific projects.
