The Knight Foundation’s Knight Arts Challenge has just announced the 69 organizations and artists, whittled out of a pool of 1,200 applicants, to be named finalists in this year’s community arts grant program. See the full list of finalists here.
This is the third year in the Challenge’s three-year, $9 million commitment to funding innovative new arts initiatives. Over the last two years, the Knight Foundation has already awarded $5.5 million to 71 local organizations and artists. Megan Wendell of Canary Promotions, which represents the Knight Foundation locally, notes that this year’s finalist list features more dance proposals (including from BalletX, idiosynCrazy productions, Kulu Mele African Dance & Drum Ensemble and others) than in the past.
Winners will be announced mid- to late April.
