Community Grants in Detroit

  • Friends of the Detroit Public Library Inc.
    Amount: $866,000
    To introduce a Technology, Literacy & Career Center at the Parkman Branch that will expand computer access provide technology and assist customers in developing basic literacy and life skills
  • Community Telecommunications Network
    Amount: $810,000
    To enable the Detroit Connected Community Initiative to provide high-speed Internet access in two large, low-income Detroit neighborhoods, utilizing WiMAX and Wi-Fi technology
  • College for Creative Studies
    Amount: $1,010,000
    To provide a new anchor institution in the northern-most end of Detroit's proposed "Creative Corridor"
  • Henry Ford Health System
    Amount: $250,000
    To fund predevelopment activities that will expand the Henry Ford Community Health Park campus in the city of Detroit
  • Michigan State Housing Development Authority
    Amount: $50,000
    To support the second Creative Cities Summit hosted in the city of Detroit, October 12 - 15, 2008; an international Summit that aspires to attract attendees that rethink and redesign cities to compete in a global economy
  • United Way for Southeastern Michigan
    Amount: $1,025,000
    To support a funders collaborative in the Detroit metro region that will develop critical workforce partnerships between employers, workforce development agencies, community-based organizations and the philanthropic community
