Stephanie Bell-Rose was elected to Knight Foundation’s board of trustees in 2011.
Bell-Rose serves as Senior Managing Director of TIAA-CREF and head of the TIAA-CREF Institute, a division of Teachers Insurance Annuity Association, which conducts economic research and public engagement programs on financial security, retirement preparation and the business of higher education.
Prior to joining TIAA-CREF, Bell-Rose served as president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation, which promotes excellence and innovation in education worldwide.
Bell-Rose is currently a trustee of the Executive Leadership Council Foundation, American Museum of Natural History and America’s Promise Alliance and is on the Board of Advisors, Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College. She is an appointee to Mayor Bloomberg’s Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission and is a member of the Women’s Leadership Board of the Kennedy School, The Economic Club of New York and the Council on Foreign Relations, where she serves on the Membership Committee.
Her awards include: Kennedy School of Government Alumni Achievement Award, Crains “100 Most Influential Women in New York City Business,” and Women of Color Magazine’s “Top Women in Retail and Finance.”
Bell-Rose earned an A.B. with honors from Harvard College, and was a recipient of Harvard University’s Rockefeller Fellowship. She also received a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and an M.P.A from the Kennedy School of Government.
