Anwyn Hurxthal joined Knight Foundation in August 2017.
Hurxthal joins Knight most recently from Canopy, an environmental nonprofit in the San Francisco Bay Area’s Min-Peninsula, where she oversaw institutional fundraising for urban greening, environmental education and community engagement programs. Prior to that, Hurxthal coordinated media relations for Oxfam America’s global humanitarian programs and managed cause-marketing at Cone Inc. in Washington D.C., also serving as an independent consultant to D.C. area nonprofits on branding and communications.
Originally born and raised in Kenya, East Africa, Hurxthal has lived and worked on both East and West coasts. Residing in the Bay Area for over a decade now, she runs a ranch with her family using sustainable practices, tapping into northern California’s vibrant cultural, environmental and agricultural sectors.
Hurxthal holds a B.A. in anthropology with an emphasis on communications from Boston University.
