Jonathan Sotsky

Learning and Impact


Jonathan Sotsky joined Knight Foundation in November 2010 as the Strategic Assessment Officer. Sotsky manages grant evaluation projects and learning initiatives across the foundation, applying insights drawn from programmatic impact to support ongoing foundation strategy.

Previously, Sotsky worked as a consultant at Mission Measurement, a social sector strategy and impact measurement firm. In this capacity, he worked with several Fortune 500 clients and national foundations to promote data-driven strategies for managing their philanthropic investments and also led education engagements focused on analyzing the impact of national charter school networks. Before that, Sotsky was a financial management consultant in the media and communications practice at IBM, where he analyzed business processes and strengthened financial reporting practices.

Sotsky serves on the board of directors for Media Impact Funders. He is also a member of the Grantmakers for Effective Organizations Working Committee of national funders advancing evaluation practices for place-based initiatives. Sotsky has presented emerging trends for assessing community engagement and developing foundation measurement approaches at conferences for organizations including the American Evaluation Association and the Council on Foundations.

Sotsky graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University with a bachelor’s in applied economics and management. He is a member of the 2011-2012 class of Leadership Miami.
