Martha Bermudez joined Knight Foundation in October 2016. She provides support to the Journalism Program.
Previously, Bermudez worked as the executive assistant to the director of change management and the chief compliance officer at Santander Bank in the Boston metropolitan area. During her nearly five years at the bank, she also held marketing and event planning roles that included working as the communications liaison between Santander Universities Division in the United States and Spain.
Bermudez originally came to Miami in 2002 and worked for BUPA International as a relationship manager for accounts and executive assistant to the managing director and chief operating officer.
Prior to arriving in Miami, Bermudez worked for the United Nations Development Program in Caracas, Venezuela. As the bilingual executive assistant to the deputy resident representative, she coordinated many different efforts, including organizing mission arrangements for officers traveling from different countries. She was also appointed to be the deputy focal point for the United Nations System for Evaluation and Coordination in Disaster Cases team. In that role, she aided the team in disaster management efforts to mitigate tragedy caused by the flash floods and mudslides in Venezuela in 1999.
