Cuddle Fish

Cuddle Fish vol. 1 is out, a zine “created, compiled, and completed” by local artist Bhakti Baxter, and served up in a small edition of 160 copies.

The contributors list for this issue reads like a veritable who’s who of mostly Miami talent such as, Addison Walz, Aja Albertson, Alvaro Ilizarbe, Robert Chambers, Charles Dube, Colin Foord, COOPER, Daniel Newman, Gean Moreno, George Sanchez, Hugh Stockton, Jason Hedges, Jen Stark, Jordan Service, Karl Yohwinkel, Kevin Arrow, Magnus Sigurdasson, Markus Haugg, Martin Oppel, Mike Taylor, Montse Guillen, Nicolas Lobo, Oliver Sanchez, Philip Stockton, Quake, Rene Morales, Samuel Borkson, Tao Rey, Victor Muniz, and Winston McCarthy.

The issue consists of multi-colored Xeroxed pages, laden with anonymous collage work that ranges from playful to downright eerie juxtapositions of unlike imagery. It’s unclear who contributed what, and where collaborations took place, which gives Cuddle Fish a jam-session feel, like the artists simply got together and riffed out ideas for the sheer fun of it.
