Join Maestro James Judd as he opens the 2011/12 Season of Excellence with the Miami Music Project Honors Orchestra

By Enide Dufresne, Miami Music Project

This dynamic ensemble, comprised of South Florida’s most talented young musicians will delight you with a thrilling performance of Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony. Your opportunity to witness the power of music in the lives of our children and community is not to be missed!

Co-presented by the Adrienne Arsht Center, the season’s inaugural concert will fully display the Miami Music Project’s commitment to the development of talented young musicians and its mission of using music as an instrument for social transformation. The Miami Music Project Honors Orchestra was created to sustain the opportunities that were in jeopardy of being lost with the discontinued Miami-Dade Superintendents Honors Orchestra. At no cost to participants, MMPHO continues to provide talented young musicians, ages 13-21 of South Florida an opportunity to sharpen their craft and take it to the next level. Teaching Artists, predominantly local professional musicians, coach MMPHO members through intensive rehearsals and individual lessons, enabling the talented youth to reach great heights in performance.
