New program helps explain how digital tools help citizens navigate web

Media fluency just took another step forward with the launch of the Knight-funded Daily Download, with quick video tips explaining digital tools to help citizens navigate cyberspace.

The Baltimore Sun reviewed the new site well.

Examples of the videos (syndicated nationwide by public television stations) are here. One video, which explores the future of Google+, is featured below.

Media critic Howard Kurtz and veteran broadcaster Lauren Ashburn of the Daily Download appear bi-weekly on PBS NewsHour. Here’s the link of their talk with Ray Suarez about how negative campaigning has come to Facebook.

Knight recently announced its support for the Daily Download to help news producers and consumers sort through the overwhelming number of new digital media tools now available.
