“Great art changes lives:” Inside the inaugural MIFFecito

Miami International Film Festival (MiamiFF) debuted MIFFecito, a mid-season “Film Festival Fix,” at  MDC’s Tower Theater Oct 16-19. The four-day event showcased world cinema in a concenatrated weekend of 10 red-carpet premieres, parties and in-person appearances with filmmakers.

Knight Foundation VP/Arts Dennis Scholl participated in the festivities by guest moderating a panel following the screening of The Laramie Project, a 2002 film telling the story of the 1998 murder of Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. Scholl led a post-screening conversation regarding the positive impact of the film since it’s debut 12 years ago.
