WNYC produces “On the Media,’’ which launched in 1995 with the help of a Knight grant. The show, with nearly one million listeners, won a 2004 Peabody award. This grant will enable the program to continue its diverse content, including reports on how the media is covering the Middle East, the war in Iraq, energy prices, the upcoming 2007 fall elections, 2008 congressional campaigns and the presidential primary. The project hopes to help listeners become better news consumers and increase demand for quality news.
