Project Team

Karissa McKelvey

Karissa McKelvey is a software developer, speaker, inventor, and activist supporting an equitable web. Formerly a research scientist at Indiana University, her work studying online political communication resulted in multiple peer-reviewed papers and press in outlets such as NPR and the Wall Street Journal. In her spare time, she teaches beginning programmers, volunteers her time in social movements, and plays the trumpet.

Max Ogden is a computer programmer and community organizer from Oregon. Formerly at Code for America, Max now works on the Dat project building open source data tools for scientists, journalists and civic hackers. In his spare time, he helps run open source community projects such as NodeSchool, The CSV Conference and JavaScript for Cats.
